About MethaneRx

MethaneRx, formerly known as Vessels Carbon Solutions, is dedicated to reducing coal mine methane emissions. Since 2003, we’ve built expertise in working alongside mine operators, electric utilities and coal communities to create economically viable projects that destroy methane or utilize it for a clean and productive purpose.

Our technical expertise is constructing, installing and operating methane capture systems in a variety of coal mine environments. We have a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, carbon markets and a commercial track record of establishing projects that reduce methane emissions.

Vessels Carbon Solutions (VCS) was founded by the late Tom Vessels, a pioneer in the capture and utilization of coal mine methane. Vessels and his original team are credited with capturing more than 4.4 billion cubic feet of methane, the emissions equivalent to removing 1.5 million passenger vehicles from the road for an entire year. Vessels is a recipient of the Pennsylvania Governors Award for Environmental Excellence and the Conservation Achievement Award from the Colorado-based Western Slope Conservation Center.

Leadership

Christopher Caskey, Managing Director

Christopher Caskey is a chemist by background, with former positions including research assistant professor in chemical engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and contract scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. He manages MethaneRx through Delta Brick & Climate Company, a business he founded to address waste methane and reservoir sedimentation. He is an inaugural board member of the Colorado Electric Transmission Authority.

Julian Huzyk, Chief Operations Officer

A mining and mineral process engineer by training, Julian Huzyk has more than three decades of experience managing projects for major mining companies as well as oil and gas organizations. He has extensive experience with design, construction, project management and operations of natural gas and electric facilities and coordinated the design, start-up and operations of MethaneRx’s existing projects since inception.
